While there is no magic bullet that can transform you into a wealthy and successful entrepreneur overnight, those prepared to work hard to succeed can achieve their dreams by developing specific entrepreneurial skills that can help set successful businessmen and women apart from the rest. Liam James Collins, Co-founder and COO of the Coaching Masters, shares some of the tips that have helped him through his life’s journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Overcome Adversity
Adversity in an entrepreneur’s life is commonplace—the key to success in dealing with these adversities and the steps we take to overcome them. For Liam, he has had his fair share of challenges that have threatened to derail his progress. However, determination and effort caused him to move through despite the obstacles.
Liam is most proud of being able to push through adversity to become successful.
“Just after I survived the London Bridge Terror Attack of 2017, my mindset nearly crumbled. I could have easily developed an outlook of hate, fear & anger. But instead, I knew I needed to develop a mindset of love, understanding and forgiveness for the sake of my family.”
In 2018, when he lost his Dad to suicide, he could have wholly buckled under the pressure. “I hated myself after that. I used to think, how dare you call yourself a coach when you couldn’t even save your own Dad. You think you’re so cool and so successful. You’re worthless.”
But after finding out the details behind his Dad’s suicide, he knew that he needed to use his coaching techniques to forgive himself and once again focus on the future. Through these adversities, Liam went on to build a wildly successful business in the Coaching Masters.
Continue to Innovate
Becoming a successful entrepreneur requires business agility, with the ability to learn and adapt to new methods, processes or technology that can make their business more robust and more efficient. Market needs have always been dynamic, and the innovative entrepreneur must evolve with it.
According to Liam, the Coaching Masters are also vibrant, dynamic and not afraid to disrupt. They have a firm belief that the coaching industry was very stale, dull and dry before they came along. “We have blown the cobwebs off the dusty old coaching books and have breathed new life into the tools, techniques and frameworks that coaching gives us. We want to make having a coach as fashionable as having a personal trainer.”
The Coaching Masters aim to give ordinary people extraordinary tools to create freedom for themselves and others.
Stick to Your Values
It is often said that “if you stand for nothing, then you will fall for anything.” To help entrepreneurs focus, Liam gives them the tools needed to find and stick to their values. “Our values are things that we consider to be important to us. These include things such as love, freedom, money, kindness, adventure, joy, connection, defense and loyalty.”
Liam firmly believes that it is useless to help entrepreneurs who do not know their values. “If one is not aware of their values, then we spend our time walking around in a constant void of confusion, not moving dynamically in any direction.” We can only build a successful business, achieve fulfilment and be happy when we know what is most important to us in this world. We must understand what we highly value.
