Tough days in Burnley
One thing that many do not know about the innovative entrepreneur is that he lost his stepdad and had to become the man of the house from a young age.
He claims that “because of this, everything I do is so my family will eventually never have to work again” One has to wonder why an individual with some pitiful story as Chris would end up in the business of vending fun to people.
Growing up left him with many disappointments and heartbreak with the difficult startup that he had to endure so his company would grow into what it is today. Through Chris’ web of experience, he leaves this advice to us “Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done and never give up”. This complements his answer when asked what his favourite motivational quote was “Tell me I can’t, I’ll show you I can” – I have this tattooed on me and I swear by this daily, I love proving people wrong”
Managing an Empire
Within 6 months of its inception, Shutdown witnessed a gap in expansion and its reputation continued to grow rapidly. The following eight months witnessed their presence in additional four cities.
Chris proudly recounts that “Within the first 2 years Shutdown became the UK’s largest leading U18s brand! They now tour the country every couple of months from as high up as Scotland to as far down as Newquay hosting some of the most talked about events in the UK. These events include bringing some of the biggest names in the music industry, PA’s from some of the most popular reality tv shows, paint & foam parties, Co2 & confetti parties + much more. Shutdown has now hosted events across 10+ towns/cities nationwide.
Fortunately for Chris, his capable team are quick in dispensing solutions to the few problems that they come across in their business.
Preparing the Teenagers for their group focused brand, Grenade
Shutdown approaches its activities without involving drugs or alcohol. Chris aims to redefine the approach of fun. Through music and the ultimate experience, teenagers are obliged to having a good time until they are mature enough for Grenade.
