It’s not often we see entrepreneurs rise to the top 1% of their industry; although they might all aim for it, not all of them make it. In this article, we discuss how Zara Harutyunyan built CRMC Aesthetics and took it to the top 1% of her industry. Zara is an Armenian native who set a goal to become a doctor of some sort from an early age and managed to make that dream a reality after years and years of hard, strenuous studying. Although her plan didn’t go exactly as she pictured, it couldn’t have worked out better. Today Zara is the Founder of CRMC Aesthetics, one of Southern California’s Largest Botox Providers. Here’s how she beat the odds in scaling a business to the top 1% of their industry.
How it all Started
Zara received a doctorate in gynecology back in Armenia, where she was a doctor for a short period. In 2004, she moved to the United States, not having anyone help her and facing every obstacle in the book, including the most difficult being the language barrier between her and her new home. When she arrived in the United States, she got her RN license and NP within the aesthetics industry. Zara quickly realized that some patients wanted to see a doctor exclusively, so over the next few years, Zara spent her time educating the patients that being a great aesthetic injector was far more than just the letters behind her name, but rather the expertise. This is what sparked her fire to open a practice that would later become CRMC Aesthetics.
The Business Element of CRMC Aesthetics
If there is one thing we know about Zara Harutyunyan and CRMC Aesthetics this far into her career is the fact that she’s really good at what she does. But to scale a business to the magnitude of CRMC Aesthetics, an element of business savvy needs to be involved. In medical school, no one taught her how to run a business. But it was rather her analytical skills and intuition that helped her become a successful businesswoman. According to Zara, “you’re left with no choice if you choose to run the business; you have to be able to wear multiple hats.”
Being a new business in any area, you’re bound to find out just how much competition is around you fairly fast. On top of being a minority and woman-owned business, the pressure Zara had was unreal. Knowing that she left behind everything she ever knew in life to pursue her dream in America helped Zara push through those difficult early years. As she started to build a clientele, Zara made sure her biggest focus was her clients. She then followed a formula that led to her growth over the next few years. Give great results and provide exceptional customer service, these two agendas led to a good amount of client retention and referrals. While her competition was finding ways to undercut her prices, Zara continued to educate patients about her services, never being about the price but rather delivering great results. Although, CRMC Aesthetics was already low priced.
The Real Key That Took CRMC Aesthetics to the Top 1% in Their Industry
Zara’s passion for her career has gone on to be the biggest determining factor of success for her, from spending all her free time learning how to take her business to the next level and extending customer relationships into lifelong friendships. We have seen this drive from the very beginning; she has made it very clear that she is not looking at her business as “work” that needs to get done just because she needs to but rather flipping the perspective and approaching it as something she wants to get done.
According to Zara, “I think when you find your passion you barely work, you’re too busy enjoying your adventure.”
That exact attitude and perspective on her business is her secret to growing it past some of her wildest expectations. It’s worth mentioning that part of the reason most businesses never get to the top 1% of their industry revolves around their mindset, framing it as work rather than as something they are actively enjoying. As we put that into perspective, we can really start to frame parallels between Zara’s inclination towards her business and some of the top 1% in the world from various industries.
Pushing the boundaries of Innovation into the Future
Zara’s plans for continued growth and innovation include
- Expanding her clientele
- Constantly taking the most up-to-date trends on modern-day marketing
- Pushing CRMC Aesthetics to become a bigger part of the community in Southern California.
As we start to see new and innovative technologies come forward within the medical aesthetics field, and as one of the most prominent leaders within her industry, Zara will bring the absolute best tech for her clients and continue to generate amazing results that you will love.
