The sun is out, and beach weather has officially arrived. If you’re taking a weekend trip to the beach anytime soon, here is what you don’t want to forget:
Sunscreen
Perhaps sunscreen is a known must for the beach, but you can never be too sure. When you are out in the sun all day, you want to make sure you pack the recommended use of SPF 30 (or higher) to protect yourself from UV rays.
Hat, Sunglasses, and Lip Balm
Oversized floppy hats, sun visors, or baseball caps are all good beach hats to protect your face from a day out in the sun. You also can’t forget your sunglasses to protect your eyes and lip balm to protect your lips from peeling.
Lounge Beach Chair, Towels, and an Umbrella
Whether you prefer to use a lounge beach chairor a towel, if you spend a weekend out on the beach, you want to ensure you are comfortable for hours on end. Pick up a folding lounge chair that is easily portable and comfy. If you’re laying out to tan, don’t forget to bring your towels. Regardless, towels are a must for the beach, and you want to ensure there is one for everyone. Lastly, a beach umbrella is a must for when you want to get out of the sun for a few hours.
First Aid Kit
Put together a small first aid kit to take with you on your getaway. Carrying around rubbing alcohol wipes and bandages in your beach bag for minor emergencies can be beneficial. Hopefully, you’ll never have to use it, but it’s better to be safe and ready!
Beach Toys
A volleyball is a beach essential for most people, especially if you are traveling with a larger group. Get a team together and have a mini tournament, perhaps the losing team can be given the task of carrying all the beach equipment back to the cars or hotel after the game. If you are traveling with younger children, ensure to also pack beach toys to keep them entertained and busy throughout the day. Who doesn’t like to build a sandcastle?
Portable Speaker and Phone Charger
Lighten up the day with your favorite jams at the beach. Nothing is better than creating an uplifting environment with music and some of your favorite people. Furthermore, don’t forget a portable phone charger so that you can commemorate your time with photos and videos.
Extra Clothing
Bathing suits and beach cover-ups are a must for a day at the beach, but it’s important to bring a few extra clothes just in case. Pack a few extra shorts, dresses, shirts, and bathing suits for the beach. The beach can be messy, and you want to make sure you have something to change into if your clothes become unwearable. Lastly, if you plan on being at the beach all day, remember that it tends to get a little colder at night. Pack a light sweater or sweatshirt, and maybe sweatpants to keep you warm at night, especially if you are staying late enough to have a bonfire.
Ice Chest
Pack a few of your favorite drinks and snacks in an ice chest to make your weekend getaway that much better. Nothing is better than laying out on the sand with drink in hand sipping a refreshing beverage while occasionally treating yourself to delicious goodies.
