The Cannabist, a marijuana-based site by the Denver Post, is now the newest victim of the downsizing being organized by this newspaper. As tweeted by the marijuana reviewer Jake Browne, who also hosted his very own signature video based program, the company has dropped all the editorial staff and replaced the open positions by bots.
The website was launched on 1st January 2014 as the legal sales of marijuana debuted in Colorado. In the past few months, operations at The Cannabist have been maintained by Alex Pasquariello as well as Alicia Wallace, the reporter. Wallace recent accepted a fellowship to start at Columbia which was nothing less than sad news given the fact that The Cannabist once was an incredibly popular platform.
On the other hand, Alden Global Media that owns the Denver Post continues slashing staff working at this publication. It was announced that 30 employees, which is roughly 1/3rd the staff in the newsroom shall have to leave their position.
The site is soon to become one among the aggregators that shall pull most of its content from The Denver Post. However, the major thing missing from the website shall be category centric story and investigative reporting with relation to cannabis.
