Honesty and realness are what Chicago’s Morewop has built his music on. He has chosen to tell the realities of his difficult childhood and the odds he has overcome to reach where he is today. After growing up playing drums in church, he took a turn risking his life with gambling and theft. During this time, he lost loved ones to gun violence and was shot himself. Beating a life-changing court case and realizing that he had to separate himself from people who did not truly love him put him on a new path. Now 24, he has begun a music and entertainment career and seeks to spread a message of encouragement to those also facing trials.
Morewop discussed in an interview that, “There ain’t no cap in my music. I only rap about [stuff] I have been through, or seen, or was around.” Speaking the truth about the environments and situations he experienced has given him the means to understand his upbringing and help others. This message has resonated with audiences in his first two projects. “WOPTOBER” was his first released EP, which was followed by “Who I Do It 4,” a full album. Now he is dedicating the upcoming project entitled “Road Runner” to those in the race against difficult circumstances. He explains, “The next project will be dedicated to hustlers of all kinds, just grinding and trying to reach their full potential while facing different hurdles and overcoming them.”
Since he began releasing his music, Morewop has built a personal brand and entertainment career that has gained thousands of followers and millions of views on YouTube and TikTok. The explosion of social media influence in the rap industry has given Morewop the means to spread his content, message, and persona to a large audience, and it has produced. However, Morewop continues to remember his roots and those who helped him along the way, saying he would not be here today without the impact of his loved ones.
