It’s a great attempt to get Hiro Ando’s genuine artworks in the digital sphere, which holds a promising future.
Hiro Ando is not a new name in the world of art as his work has been greatly inspired by the streets of Tokyo and Manga which has resulted in some bold, vibrant sculptures which has grabbed eyeballs of many including known celebrities. Ando stepped into the art sphere in 1995 as an illustrator and began executing works in a variety of distinct media like painting, digital media, sculpture, and video. Later in 2005 he along with artist Saori Nakamishi founded the neo-pop artist studio “Crazynoodles,” which has today grown to a talented team of 10 artists who have done extensive work which has been widely appreciated. Ando’s paintings depict urban Japanese landscape and is also famous for lacquering his resin, bronze, or porcelain sculptures of cats in glossy paint and ornamentation, especially characters like “Sumocat,” “Big Samurai,” and “Robocat”, which are covered in diamonds, traditional Japanese patterns, and different attractive colors. All his sculptures are loosely based on the maneki-neko, or lucky cat, with a modern twist.
Now, the team at Crazynoodles have created Samurai Cats, which is a NFT project depicting Ando’s artworks in digital format. A total number of 4,747 Samurai Cats will be offered on the platform and will guarantee authenticity in each. The team has come up with this project as it gives the artist and buyers ease to navigate between the real and digital world. That’s not all, as Grammy-nominated music producer and DJ, Steve Aoki has also joined the team as a partner. He says that he has always been in awe of Ando’s work and even owns a Samurai Cat by him as he believes it wades away all evils around him. “This was an ideal opportunity to be a part of a project associated with Hiro Ando’s work and hence i jumped in without giving any second thoughts,” informs Steve on partnering up for Samurai Cats. Aoki is a known name around the music sphere having founded record label, Dim Mak Records in 1996 which has released over 250 records till date. He has till date collaborated with talent from all genres, including rapper Kid Cudi and Tiësto, as well as reworked songs by Michael Jackson and Linkin Park. He says that he is privileged to be a part of this growing technology and is looking forward to reaching new heights of success along with it.
Samurai Cats comprise digital collectibles using the Ethereum blockchain, assembled from over 300 layers drawn by the artist himself. There are hosts of benefits associated with it, including premium memberships and offers. The NFT project looks promising enough to take over the crypto industry by storm as it has already created a strong buzz around it and users are eagerly awaiting the minting date which is scheduled to be announced anytime soon.
