Back in the old days, treating a patient or even diagnosing someone suffering from a wide array of symptoms, was nearly impossible because the practice as well as practitioners of the time lacked what the healthcare sector has in its arsenal now. The medical sector of our time is equipped with the best tools and technologies, which would be no less than the stuff of dreams for the people who preceded us. The revolution which led to the creation of such tools, also produced practitioners who were better in every respect; especially when it came to diagnostics!
Internal Medicine, being a field that relates to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of internal organs, gave birth to internists. The field encompasses the determination of the underlying “internal” or pathological origins of symptoms and syndromes through the use of laboratory investigations as well as bedside clinical evaluation of patients. The role of an internist is to look at the big picture as they are specially trained to solve diagnostic complications. These practitioners are considered experts in finding solutions to sophisticated illnesses and providing a long-term plan for the patient’s recovery. Since the inception of internal medicine, many people have proved themselves to be valuable assets in the healthcare sector. One such expert internist is Dr. Nathan Boles hailing from Biloxi, Mississippi.
Born on April 15, 1977, to Dovel and Mary Boles, Dr. Boles graduated from Biloxi High School in 1995 with an early acceptance to medical school at the University of South Alabama. He got an undergraduate degree at the University of South Alabama in biomedical sciences in 1999 and a medical degree from the same institution in 2003. Through sheer effort and continuous hard work, he specialized in internal medicine at the University of South Alabama Medical Center and earned the best resident award two years in a row, a feat that had never been achieved before or has since.
Dr. Boles made a name for himself in the medical community and when, in 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf coast, he was called back to help rebuild the medical community there. He was also hired by Gulfport Memorial Hospital to spearhead their new hospitalist program, which he ended up leading as its Medical Director for a decade. Dr. Boles got his training in Palliative Care at Harvard and in 2012, received his board certification.
In 2013, Dr. Boles used his experience to grow and optimize his medical practice and founded CareDoc LLC. He continues to be the sole owner and operator of CareDoc which optimizes and manages the practice of multiple physicians across multiple specialties at multiple facilities. In the future, Dr. Boles’ focus is to grow CareDoc so that other doctors and practitioners can benefit from his experience in running a thriving practice that not only supplies an exceptional quality of medical care, but also an excellent income for the providers involved.
Dr. Boles serves as the Medical Director for St Joseph Hospice and continues to hone his skills in the field of internal medicine. He got voted the “Best Palliative Care doctor” in Gulf Coast Women in 2022 and has been honored at Gulfport memorial with multiple awards including the Care Award, and Star Award among others.
The complexities of medicine are never-ending and to overcome these hurdles, it is critical for practitioners around the world to develop a community that helps medicine progress to a point where eradicating even the most potent of conditions turns into a possible reality. Doing his part, Dr. Boles remains active in healthcare in his home community and still serves as a hospitalist at Gulfport Memorial Hospital as well as President of the medical staff of rehab in Gulfport Mississippi. He is also involved in multiple charities and serves on the board of the Gulfport Memorial foundation.
