Ben Wiegman, a baseball player from Chicago who committed to the University of Louisville before stepping a foot into high school, has helped inspire many teenagers who want to achieve their goals in the baseball world. This student athlete has taken part in many high-profile baseball events at a very young age as he recently shares his experience at the MLB PDP League.
Sharing his favorite baseball memory, he discussed his once in a lifetime opportunity when he got to meet the “greatest baseball player of all time”, Derek Jeter. He said that he met Derek Jeter during the PDP League in Florida. According to Ben Wiegman, he asked Derek Jeter a lot of questions and learned a lot of new things from him, which made that meeting an awesome experience for him.
The 2019 USA PDP League consists of a month-long event playing games against the top 80 MLB prospects in the country. Ben Wiegman is a pitcher and has a fastball that sits in the low 90’s and he has been clocked up to 95mph earlier this summer.
The 17-year-old is attending Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein Illinois and is a 2020 MLB Draft prospect.
