The UN Development Programme of the Singapore government and partners launched a global technology and innovation initiative titled ‘Cultiv@te’. SGP Government’s aim behind the launch of the initiative is to transform agricultural practices and reduced the increasing stress of climate change.
Cultiv@te was announced on 12 November at the SGP FinTech Festival and it will curate multi-stakeholder coalitions to tackle major challenges that are faced by developing countries.
This program will allow academic institutions’ mature growth stage startups and research and development teams to mature their growth. Hazri Hassan is from SGP Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources. He said that the government has decided to launch this initiative together with UNDP because SGP is currently importing more than 90% of its food.
This initiative would allow the government to set a target to locally produce 30% of Singapore’s foodstuff needs by 2030. Cultiv@te will help to transform the agri-food sector to raise productivity, decrease spending (Pengeluaran SGP), and increase investment in innovation and adoption of sustainable technologies.
Such innovations are required to drive the development of tech solutions that are ideal and practical in addressing real-world problems. Cultiv@te would support companies and governments to contact many solution providers and startups to address the current needs in the market for new and existing technology.
SGP is continuously working on many such initiatives to bring world-class technologies in the country.
