According to his recent Twitter post, Conor McGregor, the controversial Irish Mixed Martial Art (MMA) professional, nicknamed “the Notorious”, is said to retire.
On Tuesday, he shared on his social media platform, “Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as ‘Mixed Martial Art’ today.”
The 30-year-old fighter is the former featherweight and lightweight champion at the UFC and currently ranks 8th on the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) pound to pound list.
One of the greatest fighters at UFC, McGregor makes the announcement of leaving the sport just hours after his interview with Jimmy Fallon on “”The Tonight Show”. In the interview he said that he is in good shape to face the game, though much politics is involved.
His retirement news is apprehended with doubt, as the UFC champion had previously tweeted his retirement in 2016, only to continue fighting months after.
The controversial star has been involved in legal charges earlier, including a case of criminal mischief and strong-armed robbery following an argument with a photo seeking fan.
Also, last April, cases of criminal mischief and assault was charged on McGregor for allegedly attacking a bus carrying UFC fighters, leaving 2 athletes injured as well as unable to fight at an event which was going to be held two nights later.
The last fight of McGregor with Khabib Nurmagomedov, Russian fighter ended in mishap following his defeat in the game. The Nevada Athletic Commission levied fines and bans on both fighters as a consequence of a post -fight brawl.
“The Notorious”, says he’s mindset of always thinking about fighting is what made him to make the achievements in his sport. He attributes much of his success to his upbringing and his ancestral family name.
Rumors are that McGregor might join the WWE with Ronda Rousey, likewise other eminent fighters who gave guest performances.
