Those who work in construction and manufacturing run the high risk of injuries and mortality. There are tricky and heavy instruments that they work with. That’s why it is highly risky to work in construction and manufacturing jobs.
In Australia, every state follows an Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S). This act pays attention to the safety of people at work or on the field.
Under the OH&S Act, every employer must provide essential training and guidance to their employees operating the machines. Moreover, the Act also protects the employees by ensuring that the manufacturer has the machinery in proper working condition. There should be no malfunctioning of the machinery. Both employees and employers must cooperate in following the guidelines of OH&S.
Verbal training is not enough to help the employees to operate the big machinery. Without written proof, there is no evidence that the employee has the proper training to operate the EWP. The OH&S has the EWP Operator training program or yellow card licence program that helps workers. EWP is an elevating work platform, and the yellow card training teaches the workers how to operate EWP.
The primary aim of this yellow card program is to make sure manufacturers and employees both stick to the OH&S Act. And the yellow card of an employee is proof that they have the relevant training to operate an EWP. Other than the Yellow card program, a manufacturer can have in house training programs that educate the workers.
The OH&S Act is for everyone’s protection and must be followed at all costs.
