Shane Jackson, aka Tuesday Knight, first started writing lyrics when he was only five years old, making “cheesy” verses to the beats of his favorite songs that he’d write down in his paperback notebook. This was something Shane loved to do growing up outside of New York City. Oftentimes he’d write these lyrics with his brother Sean. Together while Shane was in High School they recorded his first ever song. They recorded a star wars like song that depicted a rap battle between Shane being the Jedi and Sean being the Sith. Back then rapping and songwriting was a hobby for Shane but now it’s much more than that.
Shane always had the dream to be an artist, but his parents weren’t exactly fond of that idea. His parents pushed for Shane to take the “normal” career path and go to college and get a degree. That’s exactly what he ended up doing. Went to college, got a degree from Cornell University and went on to a 9-5 job. A couple years go by and Shane finds himself not liking his job, and constantly thinking about music. So he decided to build a recording studio, follow his lifelong dream and Tuesday Knight was born.
Tuesday Knight’s style of music brings us back to the early 90s of rap and hip hop with his melodic instrumentation and witty lyrics. Shane ultimately wanted his music to be different. Different from your prototypical mumble rap that is so prevalent now, and is having success in doing so, being previously named BET Jams artist of the week. Along with being different, Shane wants his music to inspire others. He said, “My music is just me being honest with myself, loving myself, and the greatest accomplishment would be to inspire others to do the same. Cut out all the unnecessary from your life. Just be real, be you and love yourself.”
Go listen to Tuesday Knight’s most recent album “FYS” out now on all streaming platforms. And be on the lookout for a new album coming out later this year, date TBD.
