INDIA – In 2016, a safety circular regarding the aviation industry in India was issued, where the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) banned the usage of e-cigarettes, vape pens, personal vaporizers, e- cigars, or any other kind of vaping device on the domestic flights. The products were banned keeping in mind the production of aerosolized nicotine mixture, when a person inhaled the vaping devices.
However, recent advances in Medical Institutions have proved that the vaping devices are safe to consume and not harmful. And so, a meeting was called to revise the rules and uplift the ban. However, there has been no advancement in this scenario. India still upholds the ban on carrying vaporizers in any kind of flight.
Recently, a person was carrying a pax 2 vaporizer on one of the airports of the country. And he was stopped from boarding the flight until he lets go of the vaporizer. If a pax 2 vaporizer review is taken into consideration, it contains Cannabis derived products only and is safe to consume. However, the rules for Indian aviation industry are not yet updated to incorporate these changes.
So, until further notice, the vaporizer products are banned on any Indian flight, and the passengers are requested to keep this in consideration while taking a flight from any Indian airport.
