A 29 years old Ryan Griffin, who is the Houston Texans’ tight end, has been arrested by the police in Nashville after the report of him punching out the front window of Hotel Indigo on Union Street was filed.
According to the police, the report of griffin’s disorderliness came in at 11:40 p.m. after the breakage. Though before the police arrived, the security of the hotel had escorted him out of the hotel to the corner of Second Avenue.
Griffin was charged by the police on public intoxication and vandalism. The officers who arrived at the scene said that when they met Griffin, his left hand and fingers were bleeding. “He appeared intoxicated and almost walked into traffic as he was stumbling on the sidewalk” said the officers.
The police further explained that Griffin was not arrested for his crime alone. His friend admitted he has been over-served with alcohol that evening. “So for his safety, the arrest was necessary as he is dangerous to himself and everyone around him,” said the police. Therefore the cops physically arrested him instead of issuing him a misdemeanor citation.
The Texans drafted the tight end in the 6th round of the 2013 draft, where he was re-signed on a three years deal of $9 million and a guarantee of $3.22 million in March 2017, making him one of the longest-tenured players on the Texans.
Griffin, who caught 24 passes for 305 yards last season, was released on a $1,750 bond Saturday morning though he had to stay overnight.
Reacting to this, Amy Palcic, the Vice President of Communications for the Houston Texans said: “ we are aware of the case involving Ryan Griffin. We are gathering information and will have no further comment at the moment.”
His court date is set for May 31.
