Katie Zaferes, Taylor Spivey, and Summer Rappaport grabbed the women’s podium at World Triathlon Yokohama. Katie Zaferes has taken the leading position among these three triathletes. Summer Rappaport and Spivey were successful in winning the second and third position in 77 seconds of Katie Zaferes, respectively.
In the swimming race of 150 meters, Zaferes won the fourth position. Spivey and Takahashi followed Zaferes and Rappaport. For the last few meters, Spivey left behind the Tokyo native, Takahashi. It is for the second time, Rappaport has won the silver medal. In 2016 WTS Edmonton, she had grabbed the gold medal. They became the source of inspiration for many who keep on finding the right triathlon suit for women in order to get a reputed stand in the competition.
These three Americans have made the group stronger for better performing on biking. In the males’ competition, Bence Bicsak (Hungary) and Henri Schoeman (South Africa) followed Vincent Luis (France). Luis had also found himself in the leading position in 40-kilometer cycling. Javier, Bicsak, Schoeman, and Luis broke on this run, while there were 7 kms to be covered. Alex Yee was the only player, who chased them down.
After getting the victory in Bermuda, Yokohama and Abu Dhabi, Zaferes turned out to be a leader in WTS with 3,000 points. Learmonth tied up with Spivey for the No. 2 position. Zaferes said that she has a riskier mindset for the present season, and thus, she has tried out various approaches. However, everything has given her fun.
In the men’s competition, Huffman had finished the swimming race four minutes earlier than Henri Schoeman. Thus, there had been a stiff competition among all the players at World Triathlon Yokohama.
