Folsom, California, saw the upbringing of country singer Colton Graves. A childhood of truck singalongs with his Grandpa Lloyd gave Colton an introduction to country music as authentic as they get. From there, he cultivated his interest on his father’s guitar and six-track recorder that gave him his beginning in songwriting and recording.
The discovery and signing by label Extreme Music / Sony ATV after years of shows has provided Colton with the platform to release his first EP, which recently debuted and is titled “Smile for me.” This project was collaborated on by a team backing Colton, including his producer and fellow musician Aaron Kaplan and sound engineer Ryan Johnson. He explained in a recent interview what he hopes fans will take away from listening to his music. “I just want them to get that ‘out in the country’ feeling I get when I listen to country,” he expressed.
This lighthearted attitude follows Colton around in the day to day grind of singing, songwriting, and recording. He stated that a typical day in his shoes includes, “writing music and drinking tequila. Also, I give my little pug George a bath a lot because he always smells like Frito’s”.
