DJ Preme is a talented disk jockey based in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally from the Tristate area, Preme was born in Brooklyn, New York but spent much of his teenage years maturing in Newark, New Jersey. He claims that his career as a DJ essentially began when he was around 12 or 13 years old, but he actually started out in the music industry as a hype man for a female rapper named Miss Nana. Preme would help Miss Nana sell merchandise, but more importantly he would jump on stages across the world in order to uplift crowds and pump them up for Nana’s performances. Rapper Bow Wow eventually signed Miss Nana to his label, and the first time he spoke of her was actually on 106&Park during the Scream Tour era.
Miss Nana’s DJ got sick once before one of her shows, and she had to find a replacement quickly in order to still perform. Preme was the only person who already knew all of the drops for Miss Nana’s songs, so he was simply asked to press pause or play while controlling the music volume for her. Although his task was simple, Preme was required to handle Miss Nana’s music for a few shows and this was his introduction to the DJ lifestyle. He was then able to DJ an event in Newark where Lil Wayne would be performing. Lil Wayne was running late, so his manager, Cortez Bryant, asked Preme to keep the crowd amped until the headliner would arrive. Pleased with the job that Preme had done, Bryant insisted on exchanging AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) information with one another. The next day, Bryant messaged Preme in an effort to invite him to 106&Park for the first time. Preme was still in school at this time, and he immediately texted his mother about Bryant’s invite. Preme’s mother knew how grand the opportunity could be for her son to meet up with Lil Wayne’s team at such a special venue, and she drove Preme there after school herself. Preme was able to then meet both Molly G and Jas Prince, and the two individuals helped Preme get acquainted with even more artists in the industry so that he could DJ shows for them as well.
