Art and culture depict creativity on a global level, and in the last few years, institutions have extended their support to promote traditions from all over the world. Behnoode Foundation, established in Paris in 2016 by Behnood Javaherpour has been actively supporting art and education to encourage artistic skills among artists across the globe. The reputed art museum has now come in support of the Bangladesh Art Week which has launched three different events namely ‘Identity. Who are you… Today?’ which is being held at Foundry Gallery 5 from September 20 to November 20. The event ‘Undefined territory’ is being held at Gulf Photo Plus’ Alserkal Avenue from September 22 to November 7. And the event “Connection. International Creative Residency Program” is being held from September 9 to 23.
These exhibitions encompass different forms of art like sculpture, photography and film presentation. The Bangladesh Art Week considered the backbone of the country’s art industry gives a podium to all the budding and established artists to showcase their artwork on an international level. Giving an unmatched experience to the artists, many creative professionals have highlighted their visual arts through consistent interaction and guidance. The activities of Bangladesh Art week are encouraged by the founder Niharika Momtaz and the co-founder Mohammed Mohsin.
Apart from this, Bangladesh Art Week was inaugurated by Mohammed Abu Zafar, ambassador to the United Arab Emirates & Permanent Representative to IRENA, along with Abdelmomen Alserkal, Founder of Alserkal Foundation and Khalid Abdulwahid, Director of Fine Arts Department, Dubai Culture. More so, the exhibition presents the work of some of the notable artists like Shumon Ahmed, Palash Bhattacharjee, Marzia Farhana, Shahria Sharmin and Munem Wasif. Their artistic works enlightened photographic as well as video installations with their complete focus on highlighting the rich heritage of the contemporary Bangladesh culture. Through this collaborative and contemporary art, the local artisans of Bangladesh are given extensive support on an international level.
Foundry by Emaar and Gulf Photo Plus are the official partners in the exhibition. Foundry is an art space that has art galleries showcasing contemporary art and cultural programmes to the communities of Dubai, the UAE and other regions across the Middle East. On the other hand, GPP is Dubai’s platform for photography that engages and inspires the people with an array of exhibitions, educational workshops, art programs and community events. In the last few years, GPP has built a reputation as a frontrunner in photography events across the Gulf region and other parts of the world.
By extending support to such events and exhibitions, Behnoode Foundation is sticking to its core values to educate children in the field of arts. The primary vision of the Behnoode Foundation is to groom the creative skills of artists from all over the world. With a holistic approach to meet their goals, the foundation has brought many underprivileged children into the spotlight by giving them a much-needed push towards a brighter future.
