Cleveland Museum of Art for the 2019-2020 Performing Arts Series has art and traditions from all corners of the globe. The International composers have created original compositions inspired by works of art from the museum’s collection. The first performance of the series is on Oct. 6, 2019 and will continue through spring 2020. The tickets are now available on sale for the individual performances online at cma.org/performingarts.
The series include internationally renowned artists and proficient musicians. The popular Sunday organ recitals will take place as the tradition. Experts from performing arts theater in NJ believe that this collaboration with the Cleveland Institute of Music will offer music in the museum galleries. A visit to the art museum is a ticket to experience music from all corners of the world. There will be a performance by Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, a renowned Mexican-American composer. He will perform along with La Coperacha Puppet Company. They will together stage a production based on Oaxacan artist Alejandro Santiago’s sculpture project, “2501 migrants.”
Hamid Al-Saadi, another celebrated artist will perform for the music lovers. He is known for his voice and attention to detail of Iraqi music and poetry. He will regale the audience by performing the Iraqi maqam (meaning melodic mode) offering the audience a taste of one of Iraq’s oldest & richest cultural art form. Following them is someone who is hailed as one of the most vital torch bearers of modern African music – Fatomata Diawara. She will take a bold yet respectful approach to honouring her roots during her performance. She is scheduled to perform on Feb. 26, 2020.
