There are many icons we have seen in the past who have come up in life inspite of all the setbacks and hard times, CGRN KennyMan is one such icon of recent times.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, KennyMan’s early life was full of misery and hardships one can ever imagine. Coming from the bylanes of Decatur which were infested with activities primarily against the law had him entrapped in its vicious circle. Unable to swim against the tide he couldn’t escape the jaws of unlawful environment that he was surrounded with and ended up in a juvenile detention centre at a very young age. He had a penchant for music since the beginning and his stint at the jail got him more close to it. He says “Music has given me a second life, if not for music I wouldn’t have survived all these years”. There were twelve long years he had to spend behind bars and his passion for music made this long difficult journey easy.
He is a fine example of a famous saying ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’. With the extreme challenging conditions he had to go through when under confinement, it was his strong will to survive and positive attitude that made him tide through those trying times. He formed his own music group when in prison with fellow inmates called ‘36 Shit’ which was later renamed as ‘Chain Gang Rick Nation’. This music talent got freedom in 2016 and since then he has reached milestones in his journey of life which is indebted to music. He has gone much ahead of time in the field of music and his association with rapper Ralofamgoon has made him reach the top league in a short time.
He says “I want my music to instil hope and positivity to all my brothers who are imprisoned and will never be able to taste freedom, I want them to rise above lives miseries through my music creations”.
Here’s wishing the best for his noble cause.
