The efforts of the tourism ministry of India are resulting in a good way. The country is experiencing growth in overseas travelers. According to the overseas tourists’ data announced by the tourism ministry of India, there is a 3.23 percent growth in foreign tourist arrivals in the country.
From January to November of 2019, there were a total of 96,69,633 foreign tourists in the country who had visited many places in India. During the same period of 2018, there were 93,66,478 overseas travelers in the country. India is quickly heading to become the most visited country in the world.
India’s rank in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) has improved by many points in 2019. In 2013 the country was at 65th position in TTCI ranking and in 2019 it reached up to 34th rank. Electronic India Visa service is helping the tourists to get easy visa on arrival. According to the official data, during the first eleven months of the last year, almost 25,51,211 tourists visited the country through eVisa to India. There is a growth rate of 23.8% as compared to the same period of 2018.
The tourism ministry of the country is continuously taking new steps to bring more overseas travelers to India. Last year at the end of December, the ministry had opened new 120 peaks for mountaineering. It has also reduced the fees for visa of India for the tourists.
The country is expecting to grow more inbound tourism after investing Rs. 6,035 crore in the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Currently, 28 projects of Rs 840 crore are in progress under this scheme.
