Sustainable fashion is slowly gaining ground and leading the change is Mina Habchi who has recently launched niood – an online magazine helping more and more people make sustainable fashion choices. Indeed, niood focuses on sustainable emerging brands who can prove their business models are ethical, eco-friendly and sustainable.
“What’s important in the fashion industry nowadays is to counter fast-fashion and choosing quality items and garments rather than low-quality and unrecyclable ones. That’s why – at niood – we aim to help, promote and talk mainly about emerging brands who want to get more online visibility while doing good in this world. Indeed, they’re producing quality clothes or accessories in an ethical and sustainable way.” says MIna Habchi.
“With the advent of social media, we’ve also seen a significant increase of fast-fashion production and consumption along with multiple “hauls” of low-quality products from influencers. As an influencer myself, I realise how important creating content on a regular basis is, but through time I’ve also realised how unethical this could be as – we influencers – aim to provide a good way of consuming and must promote quality products instead.” adds Mina Habchi
It just should make sense to everyone… cutting CO2 emissions, reducing waste and pollution, addressing overproduction, ensuring that garment workers are paid a fair wage and have safe working conditions, and supporting biodiversity, are all crucial and are keys to the sustainability of any brands.
