Every now and then, women self-help groups (SHGs) are found facing some or the other problems. It was reported in the past that there are several problems faced by a couple of women self-help groups (SHGs) here and there.
To overcome this situation G Ravikumar – coordinator of The Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) had mentioned in one of his interviews that the women self-help groups (SHGs) should take advantage of the facility of loans provided by the banks and make it a point to use them productively and efficiently. There are other facilities too, like https://kreditus.eu/, which help a consumer compare different financial and loan opportunities and make a conscious choice. Women should avail any such opportunity given to them.
Ravikumar further highlighted that according to a study, in totality there are 980 SHGs in Telangana. The overall number of members in all the SHGs put together is 9,800.
He relentlessly went forward and conducted a joint meeting with SHGs and Banks some time on Thursday. In the meeting, mission coordinators of Vikarabad, Kodangal, Tandur, Venkatesh, Venkat Reddy and others were also present. They discussed how to smoothen the facilities presently available for the SHGs.
Ravikumar made it very clear that any woman who is availing loan from the bank should also ensure that she repays it regularly. This will help them taking more loans in the future and thereby grow financially.
The mission coordinator also suggested that bankers should provide loans to the street vendors as well as per the directive of the Supreme Court. He further added that the mission has identified 533 such vendors.
Let us hope that this effort to the coordinator of The Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) does not go in vain. We are confident that more and more SHGs as well as women will come forward and make the best use of the services available to enhance their future prospects and to grow monetarily well.
