Street racing and NHRA drag racing have found large range of fans and followers recently. People are going crazy about it and they are pursuing this popular trend by calling it the No Prep racing. One might think what is this new phenomena and its meaning. It is nothing but a step ahead of what used to be street racing and prepped drag racing. No-prep racing is the evolved term that is being used commonly among the followers.
Traditional drag racing saw people scarping the track of any rubber laid using old tires to keep up the grip. The track is washed and HVT, PJ1 or other types of chemicals are applied to put the bite in the track, ultimately helping the cars in control so that it doesn’t skid in the track while driving and cause an accident.
Now, in the new style there is no prep involved at all. Tracks are left as it is once they are scraped. There is absolutely no preparation of the track and that is the reason it is called ‘no prep’ racing. The racing happens in safe environment, legally but the car races in a non-prepped street surface.
It is considered illegal racing on the streets but the racers wanted to try street racing that germ led to this type of racing which is nothing but a mixture of street racing and NHRA racing. No prep racing gives racers a scraped and legal track but not a prepped one so there is calculated risk involved with the high of racing on streets. So it is becoming quite popular.
It goes without saying that No prep racing is not for amateur drivers but the most experienced and skilled one’s. One is risking life of their own with the one they are racing against and the spectators around. The driver needs to be in complete control of the machine, speed and mind that requires skills and experience on track. But at the end it is a race worth watching at least once.
