Music artist, Woodney Pierre, is a talented musician who passionately pursues her musical journey. In her musical career, she has participated in many music festivals locally and internationally. The artist has made herself count on stage as an actor or a singer with her versatile work.
Woodney Pierre trained with the Royal Conservatory. She has participated in many festivals and performed with many artists in the city of Toronto. The music talent has performed at the Kiwanis Festival, the taste of the Caribbean Festival in Old Port Montreal, and the International Beaches Jazz Festival.
Woodney Pierre even performed with the Algoma Jazz band, the Caldwell Jazz Orchestra, and the KASSAV band, where she was a part of the musical performance. She has expressed that opening for Kassav, a globally popular Zouk band, is one of the biggest achievements in her musical career.
Moreover, the other musical achievements in her career are singing the National Anthem at the Roger’s Centre for the New York Yankees and Blue Jays’ Game. Besides, Woodney Pierre considers the Taste of the Caribbean Festival and the International Beaches Jazz Festival as her remarkable achievements.
Apart from this, the music artist has performed in many city music festivals namely Corso Italian Festivals, Sunday Night Serenades, FKZO Music Festival, and City Hall’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Through stage plays, Woodney Pierre has worked locally and globally with EMG Production to spread the messages of anti-bullying and teach cultural education of African Canadians.
Woodney Pierre also founded the Matty Jae Youth Foundation after her brother Mathew committed suicide while facing some mental health concerns. She spreads awareness about mental health and suicide prevention by utilizing mentorship and arts.
The foundation has worked with organizations such as Evergreen’s Yonge Street Mission and Viva Haiti to conduct art workshops to spread the message. Woodney Pierre has faced many challenges during her work and she has adapted herself well to overcome cultural differences.
The singer has expressed that young artists should participate in workshops to push themselves out of their comfort zone. And she advises them not to give up while pursuing their dreams in the music world.
