Rami Alame is an acclaimed author and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Lexyom, the first digital legal platform of its kind in the Arab world. His most recent book, ‘Startup Kudos’, lays out essential business tips and solutions through examples that serve as a gateway into the world of entrepreneurship. Rami specializes in consulting startups on strategy, logistics, and creative solutions while providing them with legal services catered to their individual needs.
Long before founding Lexyom, Rami worked in the financial district of Manhattan for the high profile legal firm Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft LLP. In 2015, he left New York and his position at the firm for his home country of Lebanon. Personal emergency had called him back to Beirut and set him along a new path in life.
At Cadwalader, a well established, highly reputable name in the New York legal scene, Rami participated in providing legal services to many of the world’s most premier legal institutions and corporations. Upon his arrival in Lebanon, however, he embarked on a journey toward realizing a very different dream: a legal group founded specifically to cater to the needs of the ‘little guy’. Where Cadwalader had succeeded in extending effective legal services to some of the largest funds and biggest names in the world, Rami would succeed in using his expertise to assist some of the smallest.
Following in that vision, Rami launched ORORUS in 2015 as an operation focused exclusively on fulfilling the needs of this emergent niche within the legal market. At ORORUS, the mission to serve the ‘little guy’ entailed more than a simple policy of prioritizing their needs over those of larger, more established clients; it meant making the commitment to serve small and midsize businesses exclusively. When larger and better paying clients came knocking on their door, ORORUS turned them away to keep with that promise. Rami wasn’t concerned with the short term profitability of the operation as much as he was determined to change the world of legal servicing for entrepreneurs and startups.
After two years of advising those small and midsize businesses, Rami began realizing that many of the processes he conducted could be streamlined and made more accessible for his clientele. In conjunction with a team of experienced lawyers and expert developers, he established Lexyom as the first digital legal marketplace of its kind in the Arab region.
Lexyom works primarily by automating much of the repetitive legal work required by startups. The process of automation, in tandem with machine learning, saves time and makes accessing expert legal help easy so that businesses can focus instead on what they do best.
Recognized soon after its launch at 500 Startup’s Batch 28 Demo Day in 2018, the platform experienced strong early success. In less than three months, Lexyom jumped from an initial 800 clients to over 3000.
Today, Rami’s innovative digital legal marketplace continues to provide effective streamlined legal services to startups and entrepreneurs as they navigate the critical early stages of their development.
