Many people have dreams they would like to make happen, but very few take action. Omar Choudhury aka Omar Connects, a young entrepreneur from the UK, decided to take action and has been riding the wave of success ever since. Sacrificing everything he had to build a name for himself, Omar shares his story and secrets to scaling million dollar brands/businesses.
Growing Up As A Young Hustler
From the beginning, the odds were stacked against Omar. Growing up in a low-income household, Omar was not able to have the luxuries a lot of his friends had. He could not piggyback off his parents, but instead of feeling sorry for himself, he realized he had to build his own destiny. Omar’s first hustle began aged 10, where he would wash cars in his neighborhood and then he went onto selling sweets in high school during lunch break. By 16, Omar landed his first official job at a café, working for only £3 an hour! In between finishing school and starting university he took to door-to-door sales, often working in heavy rain to raise vital funds for the charity he was supporting. No matter the situation, Omar always displayed strong qualities of grit and resilience, as he knew all these skills would play a key part in his later life. And what was the best skill he learned over those years? “The art of selling”, he told us.
Omar’s Commitment
Omar always wanted to achieve great financial success, but like most of us, he just could not figure out how to attain it. Whilst at University, Omar was attracted to the digital world, trying various ideas, and seeing the potential to build something in the space. By New Year’s Eve 2019, he had had enough of his average life, so Omar committed to himself that he would start an online business to help him achieve his financial goals and inspire others to do the same.
With many online coaches offering their services on social media, consultants that are great at closing prospects have been put in high demand. With his ability to sell, this is where Omar found his calling and he started to make some good money closing deals for these influencers. From there his business ventures have broadened and he has been making quite the name for himself in the industry. Omar’s main focus now is scaling his 7-figure Instagram branding agency, Grow With Us, which he runs with his partners Dre and Arthur.
Why He Dropped Out
Although Omar was accepted into a very prestigious Accountancy Degree Apprenticeship, he knew that the only way to achieve success was not to be tied down by a 9-5 job, let alone school. Risking it all, Omar acted and dropped out of the program to go full time pursuing his dreams and has now helped scale multiple businesses past 6 and 7 figures. Nowadays, many know Omar as “The Prince of Closing Deals” and his team as the “Kings of Instagram Branding”, but he tells us, his focus isn’t on him, it’s how he can serve others.
He shares a few of his secrets that helped him achieve his massive rise as a young entrepreneur.
“Really, it all comes down to your habits and mindset. I see these people posting quotes all the time about investing in themselves and not giving up. And guess how many actually do what they post…maybe 1%, if that”. Omar told us; it all starts with having an abundant mindset. Most people view time and money as a scarcity, and that is why they never have enough of it. But understanding that investing in yourself and opening your mind to new possibilities will allow you to achieve them. Avoid the naysayers; there are a lot of people that will hate what you are doing because it is different to the norm. But if they are not where you want to be, ignore them, and keep pushing forward. Finally, always look at the bigger picture and understand, there are no such things as failures, only wins and learning experiences.
Although Omar dropped out of school to scale his entrepreneurship career, he is a huge advocate of a real education, such as learning from sales and mindset coaches. “Real education” has always been a hot topic in the business world, and it is one of the reasons Omar plans on eventually helping to reform the education system – teaching high-income skills to kids, as they are the generation who need it the most. An amazing ambition and quite an ironic turn around for the university dropout indeed!
