Model Shanina Shaik confirmed that Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show would not take place this year. The model who has an experience of taking part in the show for over 20 years expressed his displeasure for the cancellation of the show. However, no clear response has been given by the official spokesperson of Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. The 28-year-old model expressed her hope for the things to get back on track in the future. She said that the show organizers must be working on increasing the branding and new ways to do the show.
Earlier in the month of May, Les Wexner, the founder and CEO of L Brands (the parent company of Victoria’s Secret) hinted about the exit of the show from the network television. The show’s ratings declined to historic lows last year, following which Wexner expressed the need to take the important decision about the traditional show.
Due to his strong ties with the financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was charged for the sex trafficking of minors last year, Wexner has been suspected for his involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s illicit activities. Both shared a strong bond at the personal as well as professional level. However, Wexner rejected all the claims of knowledge about the illegal activities of Jeffrey Epstein.
According to Scott J Cooper, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show also faced investigation for its lack of body diversity in the show and its refusal to sell a wider range of sizes in its stores. In addition to this, many questions had been raised on the show for its failure to cast curvier or transgender models.
