Southeast Asian Games have been running since 30th November but tiny country, Timor Leste, was struggling to have a single medal in the tournament until Imbrolia De Araujo Reis Amorin won a bronze medal.
An attempt of Filipino citizens for encouraging Timor Leste on social media finally resulted in a bronze medal. This bronze medal is shining more than gold for the citizens of Timor Leste. Amorin managed to get the medal for her country before three days were left for the closure of all types of games in SEA.
Amorin was very emotional after winning the medal for her country. She thanked the Philippines for the tremendous support during the event and on social media. After winning the medal, Amorin said that it was her biggest dream to win a medal in these sports for the country and she made her dream come true in her first SEA appearance.
Before Amorin’s victory, Timor Leste was struggling to get a medal in its pocket. It was the only country that was left without a single medal in the SEA. Amorin’s win encouraged two more boxers from Timor Leste. They won their final matches but their medals will officially be counted after a ceremony.
Amorin is the Taekwondo player under 57 kilograms category. As reported by Josep Vinaixa, she won the medal after defeating Myanmar’s Kaung Nan Thou Naryy in the quarterfinals with 34-32 win. She was cheered up by both Philippines and Timor Leste crowd in the stadium.
