Months of coercion from the European allies, U.S. lawmakers, and the defence officials have forced U.S. President Donald Trump to take back one among the biggest verdict made in two years of his term. This was his plan that completely withdraws the U.S. forces deployed in Syria.
On Friday, the senior officials in the administration mentioned that Trump has now agreed to let 400 troops be in Syria. This decision came around two months post the announcement that ISIS was defeated in Syria after which 2000 U.S. troops shall be withdrawn from the country.
Cmdr. Sean Robertson, the spokesman for Pentagon mentioned that the U.S. troops numbering a couple hundred shall remain in the northeastern part of Syria. They will be a part of the multi-national force representing the country. He further added that this multi-national observing as well as monitoring force shall be comprised of primarily NATO allies. They will mainly be responsible for the maintenance of stability & prevention of Syria ISIS resurgence.
This decision is surely going to upset the Republicans as well as some Democrats based in Capitol Hill. They mention that they were completely left out when it came to the decision making process.
