The U.S. President Donald Trump seems all confident and set to smash one more pillar for the foreign policy for the country during his 2nd summit to be held with Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea. For years, Washington has been looking forward to obtain a grand agreement with the country North Korea. This agreement would be set in terms where North Korea shall give up their nukes in order to get rich with the help of U.S. government.
However, this summit has brought Trump’s visualization to a rather realistic approach and limited goals that come with limited benefits. For once, his decision to break away from the traditional thought process could be a great idea. Demanding a complete denuclearization was something beyond the achievable reality.
This fresh approach is based on opting for small yet strong steps instead of going for giant leaps. With this, Trump government aims at eventually acquiring full settlement with better trust built among the countries. However, there might also be serious risks given the fact that such dramatic shift in the current governmental process in North Korea isn’t feasible in the small time frame of 2-day long summit.
The change needs to be a part of the complete framework for foreign policy that addresses any potential fallout or coordinates with the allies.
