Kellyanne Conway, President Trump’s counselor, has shed more light on the administration’s immigration plan and also accused some members of the Congress of being dedicated to the current immigration practice.
According to her, the new immigration plan offers full and final border security which President Trump has focused on in his four years as president and while also enforcing a modernized and merit-based immigration system.
On Thursday, President Donald Trump unveiled the much-awaited immigration rebranding, which dramatically turns around how the United States accepts immigrants. Rather than basing the acceptance of immigrants on family ties, the rate of immigrants admitted into the United States will be higher depending on job skills possessed.
Further discussing the new plan, she made it clear that it is not a part of the President’s anticipated 2020 plan but rather the one which will be mobilized this year if the Congress acts on it. In her own words, it is a modernizing system for the current immigration system which has been in practice for fifty-four (54) years.
In the process, she opined that the reason for no change in the current immigration system is because some members of Congress are much invested in this. It has made the Congress turn a blind eye to restructuring it while pretending to be worried for the children and the family ties of the immigrants.
