Geoffrey Walker (89) and Pauline Walker (86) are UK based tech savvy couple who by Thursday afternoon had 163,000 followers on Instagram. The couple posts some hilarious home videos for their followers. They have 3 children, 5 grand children and 10 great- grand children and had joined the social media site to keep in touch with their whole, large family. They became insta-influencers by accident when their home videos went viral.
The couple loves the feedback and just can’t believe how generous people are to them generally. Geoffrey likes to go on walks and post the videos as they are very popular. Recently, they posted a video of Pauline hanging the laundry which was a huge hit. The social media fame has translated off-screen too. A proud Pauline says, “I went to the lunchin’ club today, and I got applause when I walked in there, and they shouted ‘here’s a celebrity!’ ”
Pauline says that their family keeps an eye on them and their activities on Instagram. The couple puts daily live videos from quilting to baking cakes. One of the viral clips is the one where the octogenarian couple can be seen bickering over what Geoffrey’s going to eat for lunch when Pauline’s is away at her book club. Geoffrey complains that he is sick of getting stuff out of the freezer. To which Pauline responds, “You know what to do. Go down to the pub.”
Geoffrey recounts that around 3 years ago a girl from the village had shared their video with the caption ‘I know this old man who puts videos on Instagram of his wife,’ and then within 3 days their followers shot up to 18,000. They now have 10 times more followers thanks to services like Buzzoid as well.
They get lovely comments on their posts like a supporter recently wrote-“I can’t even cope with how lovely you both are — I just want to cuddle you,” and another one posted, “Happiness = watching Pauline watching the game,” under a clip of the bespectacled senior watching soccer.
