The United States senators left from one closed-door briefing organized with the Trump administration after being frustrated by lack of any new information over the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist.
This meeting to decide the status for investigation of Khashoggi’s assassination was held on Monday amid the rising tensions between Congress and the White House pending the US-Saudi relationship. Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator mentioned that this was a total waste as they already knew more.
Graham mentioned that it was actually time for some more action. Marco Rubio, the Republican Senator said that he couldn’t learn anything statistically revealing from this briefing. Now, the senate might have to take decision if it plans on imposing its very own sanctions on the Saudi Arabia government.
Khashoggi, The Washington Post writer, was actually killed in the Saudi Arabia Consulate located in Istanbul by the Saudi agents last year. To this, the government of Saudi Arabia commented that this murder was actually organized by “rogue” operatives. They further denied any kind of involvement of the Crown Prince named Mohammed bin Salman.
However, the American legislators believe that Prince Mohammed was the one who ordered this killing with Trump acting highly reluctant when it comes to placing the blame for the murder on the crown prince.
