He composes, collaborates and his vision to play his own music onstage when he gets a chance, gives him a different name altogether in music scene, also being a busy session artist for recordings and a live drummer for other musicians.
Vishal Mehta, Delhi based musician and Drummer of India’s biggest Indie pop band “Euphoria”, says that he always wants to play and has a vision to express and discover his own music & style as a drummer and that’s why he took his journey forward towards learning and continuously honing his art.
His journey of learning music started (Drums) initially from Peter Szendofi, a jazz drummer from Budhapest in 2016, followed by Pandit Ramdas Pulsule who is the very senior deciple of Pandit Suresh Talwalkar from Pune for Hindustani Music (Rhythm) where he learnt Layakari. He spent couple of months learning from Guruji Suresh Talwalkar himself in 2017-19. He then found his clarity on the vision which he was looking for, where he blended contemporary/pop & rock/ jazz & fusion music with certain Indian rhythms and elements which creates a different high, you must have heard in his released albums.
So, In 2017-18 only, he came up with his first album – Alone, which was a huge hit then 2019-20, the single came out – Guftagu and in 2021-22, the second album came out known as Only You.
Vishal Mehta, started from a small town, Meerut, where he never ever had a drum kit/ professional music learning during his school days, so he only used to practice on his school drum kit and practice music with his then teacher known as Pradeep kumar. Those were the days of struggle which kept him in the passion of learning an art without any thought of what’s going to happen later.
Now, more on the learning side, he is currently under the supervision of none other than the most famous, hard working and versatile Drummer, Dave Weckl, where he is mastering his art form.
Vishal Mehta, is now pretty known and india’s one of the greatest drummers, playing for one of the most reputed band of India (mentioned above) and sessions across.
