Have you ever been on the verge of burnout? Did you ever spend hours in front of your laptop without being able to work? Did you ever feel a constant sense of overwhelm?
Unfortunately, these feelings are becoming more and more common in modern-day societies. Every day, the internet and social media bombard us with tons of notifications, giving us the impression that we have to be available 24/7. It can be a text from a friend that needs your help, an email from your boss outside of your working hours, or even the sound of a notification on your phone.
When feeling overwhelmed, it’s easy to blame others. But the truth is that it’s up to us to find time every single day to shut out all those voices and reconnect with our inner selves. There are plenty of ways in which you can put this into practice. Learning how to listen to your soul will allow you to discover your true calling, bringing a sense of belonging and fulfillment to your life.
Soulful practices
You can reconnect with your inner self in a number of ways. This can range from meditation to journaling, walking in nature, singing, dancing, and many others. Try out a few different ones and see which one resonates the most with you.
These practices will allow you to create a dialogue with your soul and understand your real purpose in life. ‘You know you have made a connection with your soul when you feel time stretch and expand. You drop into the center of your heart and have an increased capacity to listen and feel the voice within, otherwise known as your intuition,’ said Rebecca Campbell, an Australian spiritual teacher, mystic, and internationally bestselling writer with 20 years of experience.
Practice gratitude
Another way to live a more fulfilled life is to practice gratitude. You can either spend a few minutes a day listing reasons why you should feel grateful or keep a gratitude journal to truly commit. Most people tend to only focus on the negatives in their life and often forget about the many positives. Practicing gratitude is a wonderful way to remind ourselves that life is worth living.
Prioritize your reconnection
Remember, your soul is calling you every day. If you truly want to achieve spiritual awakening, you need to commit to it on a daily basis. Find a time for your spiritual practice and make it part of your routine. “Just like any relationship, the more time you spend listening to your soul, the deeper the relationship gets and the easier it is to differentiate between the voice of your head and the voice of your soul,” said Campbell.
Attend a spiritual gathering or service
A quick way to live a more fulfilled existence and find your true purpose in life is to attend a spiritual gathering, circle or service. There are plenty of options nowadays, from long ceremonies to card readings, and spiritual healing sessions.
Getting in contact with experts in the field will allow you to get a clearer idea of your spiritual journey and give you the chance to meet like-minded people and learn about their own personal paths.
Answer your soul’s calling
Once you manage to create a connection with your soul, you need to pay attention to what it’s asking you to do. This can be either your life call or something more simple. Anything from quitting your job, to traveling to a new country, or reconnecting with an old friend.
Once you understand what your soul is demanding from you, embrace it fully and try your best to achieve it. This doesn’t mean going from zero to a hundred overnight. Campbell suggests taking baby steps towards your goal and putting faith in consistency. “When you are living a guided life, you find yourself in flow with life. It also feels really good showing up and completing the baby steps each day,” said Campbell.
