We can all agree that YouTube has now won the battle of more views than primetime television. Everyone owning a smartphone is probably relying on this video sharing platform for all sorts of content, and the research data shows that! It has grown so tremendously that, not just independent content curators, but even big brands are heading towards it for efficient marketing campaigns. With about 2 billion active users worldwide, YouTube’s ubiquitous nature has made it a customary app and driver of culture. We spoke to YouTube star and marketing creative director for Dreamwell Kazzy Official about ways to optimize a YouTube channel in 2021.
YouTube is earning global popularity, and it’s hard to imagine a world without it. Brands and independent creators do not give it enough optimization and make the most of it. Infact, it was found that only 24% of users plan to create a strategy for YouTube Live, which is one of the most desired content by viewers.
So, how can one optimize their YouTube channel and content to the maximum and become search-engine friendly to land in the trending section? This article shall address these solutions, put forward by YouTube star Hussein Kazzy. He is nearing 500,000 subscribers and has secured the recognition of being Canada’s fastest-growing YouTuber in 2017, and this does not happen by accident. Kazzy juggles being a content creator, Brands’ deal-breaker, YouTube monetization expert, Brand consultant, and several other syndicates. Read on for some tips up from the expert’s sleeves to better optimize your YouTube channel.
Metadata for the win
Metadata for YouTube consists of the title, description, and tags of your video. It doesn’t mean that you can write off a simple title to your content – ensure that it’s relevant, catchy and using appropriate keywords that are friendly to the search engines. “A good description goes a long way, and there’s so much that you can experiment with making it even more engaging,” says Kazzy.
If your video is some guide or tutorial, you can put a breakdown of the video into the description and add CTAs (call to actions) to boost engagement in the comment section. Don’t be hesitant to experiment to see what works the best for your audience.
Focus on the playlist
It’s one of the most overseen factors while customizing the channel and the content. If curated diligently, playlists can boost playtimes, organic traffic, and reflect on Google search. “All of the tricks count where you’re starting out on YouTube as a small content creator”, says Kazzy. These features can be used by clubbing videos of a relevant subject together, spicing it up with a good title and of course, with a garnish of keywords. “Threading multiple videos on similar subjects attracts watch time, which is one of YouTube’s top ranking factors,” adds Kazzy.
Brand yourself
The ‘About Us’ is a tremendous yet underutilized tool that helps the user establish a strong brand identity and communication with a crisp introduction. People are often iffy on what to write and whether it’s required at all. “There should be no question about it. About us helps your viewers understand your work better,” says Kazzy. Again, use all the keywords in this section to help yourself with more traffic and reach. “Put your email address there as well to allow brands to reach you for brand deals!”, adds Kazzy
“YouTube has four major factors that influence that channel’s ranking. Watch Time, Video Length, Subscribers count, and user interaction. If you satisfy them well with quality and authentic content, then you’re winning,” shared Kazzy. Now is the time to shine bright on YouTube, and if you’re well-acquainted with a few tricks of the trade and delivering good work, you are well-equipped to have a good subscribers count!
