For decades, the Brooklyn borough of New York City has been home to an important and influential rap scene that has birthed legends, like Jay Z, B.I.G, and Mos Def, and is still currently the home city for more recent stars, like Joey Bada$$ and the recently deceased, Pop Smoke. The next rapper with hopes of adding his name to that list is up-and-comer, YSaucy.
Raised in Brooklyn, YSaucy took up an interest in rapping while attending middle school, but he began to notice his potential when he reached high school. At that point, he began perfecting his craft and taking rapping more seriously. Inspired by a wide array of artists, YSaucy says his biggest influence is the work ethic and determination of Atlanta rapper Lil Baby. The rapper also wields a strong self-influence, and he says he is always working to out-do himself. “Believe in yourself. You can’t get nowhere if you truly don’t see the picture.”
YSaucy has had his fair share of obstacles to face throughout his life, but there has been one constant in all the hardships: his mother. “My mom always been on my side and supported my decisions and showed me how to become a man with the right work ethic and to take responsibility.” The Brooklyn rapper has shown promise, especially with his most recent single, “Pain.”
